Bindweed is on the cusp of perennial time--that moment when all the perennial plants explode--so there will inevitably be some cool surprises on the truck. The delphinium are really producing and we have them in a white-sky blue-colbalt-violet-lavender rainbow. The baptisia are also in season. AKA False Indigo, we have three fabulous varieties all pictured below. Baptisia is an excellent cut flower, colorful with long stems and a good vase life, just pick your favorite colors: Blue, smoky purple and our new maroon favorite, Cherries Jubilee. The first of the campanula are blooming and we have white and blue bellflower. The early blooming lupine are peaking and we have a ton of blue violet and if you are lucky there are some yellow and a few bunches of pink. The entire clematis family is coming into bloom, we are harvesting clematis on the vine, clematis integrifolia and clematis recta. Yeah! New this week also are Huchera Coral Bells, if you are looking for a punch of color these babies are the real deal. Like dynamite, they are tiny but have a huge impact. (Kind of like my granddaughter. LOL) OMG, the list goes on...the Eremerus, Scabiosa and filipendula are just starting but we will have some in limited quantities. And last but not least, a new foliage this week, Lady's Mantle, it has been perfect weather for it and it is sumptuous. We are nearing the end of the viburnum Lace Cap, so get it while you can. The first planting of sweet peas is still producing and we are keeping an eye on the second crop. Until then we have white, pink, lavender and red sweet peas by the stem and on the vine.
